Today we’re excited to reveal that Flock has raised $17M in funding, to supercharge our expansion into new geographies and product lines.
The round was led by Social Capital, the Californian investment firm run by Chamath Palihapitiya, a renowned tech investor, Chairman of Virgin Galactic, and an early backer of Slack, Tesla, and Bitcoin. Our incredible existing investors Anthemis and Dig Ventures also participated.
This funding marks a major milestone as we build a global, fully digital insurance company for connected and autonomous vehicles.

Through the partnership, LEVL’s customers will be able to access insurance that integrates with their telematics to offer fairer, more flexible insurance pricing.
By connecting with telematics devices, Flock is able to analyse the behaviour of every driver across a fleet and offer insurance prices based on actual exposure to risk. As fleets take steps to improve safety, they are automatically rewarded with lower per-mile insurance rates.

Today we’re excited to reveal that Engineius, the UK’s leading vehicle transportation company, has selected Flock to insure the hundreds of vehicles it moves for commercial fleets every day.
Engineius helps the UK’s largest fleets, including the AA, Hertz and Buyacar, to book, track, and manage their vehicle movements entirely online.
Thanks to Flock’s fully-flexible fleet insurance, every vehicle in transit with Engineius will be automatically covered by a usage-based motor insurance policy. This allows Engineius to enhance the experience of its customers, while automatically aligning commercial activity with insurance costs.

Today, we’re excited to announce that Flock is supporting Skyports in drone delivery trials taking place this week, backed by Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership — part of NHS Highland.
This week, Skyports will conduct flights between two hospitals in Scotland, taking off in Oban before flying 10 miles away to the Isle of Mull.
The goal is to cut delivery times from 6 hours one way via ferry to just 15 minutes on-demand by drone, demonstrating the feasibility of delivering urgent medical cargo, such as COVID-19 test kits and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), between remote…

This year the drone industry has continued to develop at pace, with the CAA introducing new UK regulations, Skyports and Volocopter launching the world’s first flying taxi ‘VoloPort’ and Flash Forest planning to use drones to plant 1 billion trees by 2028.
It was a busy year for Flock too! With over one million quotes issued, we thought we’d wrap up 2019 by diving into the data and sharing some of the insights we’ve uncovered.
On 5th November 2019, the CAA is launching a new Drone and Model Aircraft Registration scheme for pilots who fly in the UK.
The new Drone and Model Aircraft Registration scheme is split into two parts:
The difference is mainly for recreational pilots so we’ll explain more below. The important thing to remember is that in order to fly drones weighing 250g — 20kg in UK airspace after the 30th of November, it’ll be a legal requirement to be registered.
